FOR THE GLORY

A performance concept presented by OX. In the opening monologue Cornelius announces to the audience that the performance has already happened. The performance was the transference of artist fees Cornelius had been awarded by different granting organizations to three other artists: Maryam Rostami, Xandra Ibarra and Sarah Biscarra- Dilley. Cornelius had secured funds to make a performance that addressed the privileging of white male bodies on stage and in American society.
The rules of the exchange/performance:
1. Each artist receive the funds.
2. Each artist meet with Sigourney once a month.
3. Each artist allowed the use of their names in promotion.
Each of the other artists decided to present their own works at For the Glory, though these works were not the content of the performance For the Glory, which ended at the end of Cornelius’ opening monologue.
LAURA prefers being called LARRY. She choreographs/collaborates in San Francisco with a wide range of artists including Jesse Hewit, Rachael Dichter, Mica Sigourney, Oscar Tidd, Keith Hennessy, and Amara Tabor-Smith.

The Un-Erasure by Maryam Rostami
Maryam Rostami is a San Francisco-based contemporary performance artist, player, director, and writer originally from Texas. She is a co-founder of the performance experiment Nicole Kidman is Fucking Gorgeous, commissioned in 2014 by theAsian Art Museum for original performance. XANDRA IBARRA is an Oakland-based performance artist from the El Paso/Juarez border who performs and works under the alias of La Chica Boom. Ibarra uses video, objects, photography and sex acts to evoke comedic and melancholic racial and sexual expectation.Currently she is transfixed by insects of the order Blattodea, repetition, and saying nothing because it means everything. SOPHIA WANG works in experimental dance and movement and is a founding member of the Brontez Purnell Dance Company. She has danced for artist-choreographers Xandra Ibarra, Hentyle Yapp, Amara Tabor-Smith, Tino Sehgal, and Jérôme Bel, and regularly collaborates with Oakland-based artist tooth (Black Hole Cinematheque) on experimental dance films. Her current project, Heavy Breathing, is a series of participatory art and performance seminars she is co-curating with Bay Area artist Lisa Rybovich-Crallé, with funding from a SOEX Alternative Exposure grant.

SARAH (SASS) BISCARRA-DILLEY (Chumash) is a multi-disciplinary artist, weaver and bruja. Her work explores the spaces between the worlds; between blood sickness and blood lines, between grief and joy, between body and land, between the spatial and the temporal, between personal authority and collective responsibility. She is anchored in the intention and practices of Indigenous decolonization: through cartographic upheaval, through contradiction, through conjuring, through complexity, through communion.
